"Besides directing police officers to improve behaviour of their subordinates, they have been asked to sensitise policemen on crime against women by holding workshops or other means," DGP D R Nagar said.
Nagar was speaking during a meeting of state's administrative top brass in the capital today.
A woman was brutalised by policemen in Aligarh during recent protests by angry locals over recovery of a girl's dead body near a garbage dump.
In the meeting, which was also attended by Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava, reports were sought from IGs, DIGs and district police chiefs on matters like action taken against the criminals, community policing and PCR functioning, officials said.
Emphasis was laid on imparting knowledge about various rules and regulations to policemen posted at station level, in order to improve their functioning.
