Hours after Lt Governor Najeeb Jung sought a file pertaining to a notification on enhancement of circle rates on agricultural land, the AAP government today sent the same to him for his approval even as the two sides looked to be headed towards a fresh round of confrontation.

The LG's office office said earlier in the day that the Arvind Kejriwal government did not seek the LG's nod before issuing the notification pertaining to the enhancement of circle rates.

But sources in the LG's office later said that "the LG's office has received the file and will examine it as per legal and constitutional provisions".

The AAP government sent the relevant file a few hours after the LG's office in a statement said that the related notification issued by the government was not placed before the LG for his approval.

"The matter was not placed before the LG prior to the issue of notification. The LG's office has, therefore, called the relevant file for examining the legal and constitutional aspects of the notification," the LG's office said in an official statement.

In the budget for 2015-16, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had proposed an increase in circle rates on agricultural land by up to 125 per cent.

Yesterday, Law Minister Kapil Mishra issued a circular asking all departments and ministries not to send files pertaining to government, excepting for police, land and public order, to the LG.

The circular also states that the government in NCT means "the elected government in Delhi" days after Jung called himself the "government of Delhi".
