The All India Fishermen Congress (AIFC) is drafting a 'Fishermen Manifesto' to draw the attention of the Centre and state governments towards the rights of the community.
The Chairman of All India Fishermen Congress, T N Prathapan, made the announcement today, saying the AIFC is committed to fight for the cause of fishermen.
It is the first time ever in India that such a manifesto is being prepared, he said.
Prathapan inaugurated the Delhi State Fishermen Congress Committee meeting at the AICC office here today.
AIFC general secretary Sunita Nishad presided over the meeting and national representatives U R Sabapathi, Ramadas P Sandhe, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta and Tufani Nishad also addressed fishermen delegates.
