Akkineni is the son of celebrated film editor Sreekar Prasad. 'Pizza', which is the Hindi remake of a Tamil film of the same name, is releasing this Friday.
"I don't think so I will be comfortable directing a song and dance routine film. It's something that I don't like and I won't be happy doing something like that. We are taking a risk with 'Pizza' but I don't mind it," Akshay told PTI.
The director, however, clarified that he would not mind directing great "masala" entertainers.
Akshay feels that though the film is a remake, the approach is fresh, thanks to the use of 3D technology.
"It was the most challenging as well the most exciting aspect of the film. It will give extension to the film," he said, adding producer Bejoy Nambiar was initially apprehensive to use the technology.
Films of the horror genre have not done so well in the box office as compared to romantic comedies, action thrillers and Akshay said the main reason is lack of quality horror films.
When asked if he will continue to helm horror films, Akshay said, "I don't think so as there is a special kind of skill required for the job and I am yet to have that. I am not cut out for it yet. Romance pulls me more. I would like to direct a love story."
'Pizza' star Akshay Oberoi, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Dipannita Sharma.
