Inaugurating the control room here, Superintendent of Police M R SibiChakravarthy said 15 police stations in the district have CCTV facilities, including five hill area police stations of Burgur, Kadambur, Hassanure, Bhavanisagar and Thalwady. More hill area police stations would be linked with CCTV network soon, he said.
The SP said CCTVs had already been installed in 68 areas in the city. In addition five Speed Zoom cameras had been installed in important junctions, he said.
He said District Police has received Rs 25 lakh from the Transport Department to purchase and use breath analysers and speed checking devices.
The SP also claimd that crime detection in the district was very high when compared to Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts.
