A sessions court acquitted Haq for lack of evidence, a senior police officer said, adding that the police would file an appeal.
The case was probed by the special investigation team (SIT) wing of the Hyderabad Police.
According to the police, Haq, a Hyderabadi, in connivance with Abdul Aziz alias Abu Rehan alias Wali, a Pakistani national, carried out the attack at RTC Crossroads on May 7, 2006 in which two persons were injured.
The investigating agencies had claimed that Haq had entered into a conspiracy with Aziz and other LeT operatives "to wage a war against the country".
Haq was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment by a local court in connection with a 2010 case of recovery of weapons earlier this year. He is presently lodged at the central prison here.
