In a complaint to the Election Commission, copies of which were released to media here, the Punjab Congress questioned the allocation of security personnel, terming it as "unfair, partisan and politically motivated".
The party said that the allocation was made on the "instructions" of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who also holds the Home portfolio, and state DGP Sumedh Singh Saini.
The Punjab Congress alleged that many Akali Jathedars, tainted and unknown persons have been provided security, merely for their close proximity with the Badal family.
The Punjab Congress urged the Election Commission to seek a detailed report of allocation of security personnel across Punjab, without any further delay.
