A party source said there was nothing particular on the agenda for today's meet as it is Shah's practice to meet all the BJP chief ministers together every time when there is a Niti Aayog meeting as it is convenient for him and others to do so.
"He has been meeting them every time there is a Niti Aayog meeting and they discussed all the current issues facing the party and the party--run governments," sources said.
The Governing Council, which comprises all Chief Ministers and Lt Governors of Union Territories, is headed by the Prime Minister.
Chief Ministers of nine Congress-ruled states as well as those of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha kept away from the meeting.
The meeting, however, was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed apart from the CMs of the NDA-ruled states.
