AP govt official booked for duping jobless youths

A Deputy Secretary at Andhra Pradesh Secretariat here was today booked for cheating by collecting around Rs 2.5 lakh from unemployed youths on assurances of getting them government jobs, police said.
According to Meerpet police, a case was booked under sections 420 and 506 of the IPC against V Srinivas Reddy after a complaint was lodged against him, accusing him of cheating 12 youths and collecting around Rs 2.5 lakh from them after promising them government jobs in 2014.
"The complainant alleged that when he, along with the others, asked for the money to be returned, Reddy threatened them with a pistol," a police officer said.
