Nigam, a 1981-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service officer, has experience in accounting and finance having worked in various capacities in different ministries of the central government in her career spanning 35 years.
Before the new assignment, Nigam was the Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (Pr.CCA) and was involved in the critical task of setting up of the accounting framework for the GST regime expected to be launched by the government in the next fiscal.
Pr.CCA being the designated authority for GST, the office under Nigam has drafted significantly towards integration and vetting of various payments and accounting protocols between the major stakeholders of the GST regime, official sources said.
