Marketmen said pick up in demand from retailers amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in prices of select pulses.
Meanwhile, to boost availability and check rising prices, state-run Kendriya Bhandar will start selling imported tur dal at its 100 locations here from October 15, while sale of the commodity at Mother Dairy's 300 Safal outlets will begin from this weekend.
State-owned MMTC has floated a fresh tender for import of 2,000 tonnes of tur dal, to be delivered by next month, to further improve supply of pulses in the country.
Gram also edged up to Rs 5,300-6,000 from previous level of Rs 5,100-5,900 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,600-5,800 and Rs 5,700-6,000 per quintal, respectively.
Besin Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,330 each instead of Rs 2,230 per 35 bag, respectively.
On the other hand, moong and its dal chilka local fell by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,500-8,100 and Rs 8,100-8,500 per quintal, respectively.
