A senior police officer today claimed that the outfit was a defunct organisation and most of its cadre have been neutralised.
The outfit recently in a statement while claiming responsibility of the incident said that the attack took place "in connection with the illegal eviction carried out by the Assam forest officials and illegal land encroachment in Arunachal territory particularly at Tarasso circle by the people of Assam".
Meanwhile, state government spokesperson Nabam Rebia on Sunday said that none of Arunachalee was involved in the Chaoldhowa killing incident.
Rebia said that the state government has written to the union home ministry for an independent inquiry into the incident.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi however had demanded a CBI probe into the incident.
On the other hand, Union Ministry of Home Affairs Joint-Secretary, Shambhu Singh had told media recently that the Sangbojit faction of NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodoland) might have a hand in the killing incident.
