The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting, headed by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, last Tuesday, a statement issued by government spokesman Bamang Felix said here today.
Tuki in his budget speech recently had announced a number of welfare measures for the people living in the border areas.
Besides providing free rice and salt to the people living along border areas, the state government will introduce a loan-cum-subsidy scheme for purchase of a medium-size transport vehicle for transportation of essential commodities in the border areas for eligible unemployed youth.
Tuki had also enhanced allocation of funds for the border areas to strengthen infrastructure in health and education as well as to take up construction of porter tracks, suspension bridges and construction of helipads.
