Assam CM sanctions Rs 292.40 cr for rural local bodies

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today approved Rs 292.40 crore for payment to rural local bodies to enable them to work more efficiently for the development of local areas.
According to an official release, Gogoi sanctioned the fund to the local bodies to expedite the implementation of various schemes to bolster rural development.
"Moreover, an amount of Rs 13.43 crore has also been released to Guwahati Development Department for payment to Guwahati Municipal Corporation," the statement said.
The fund released will be used exclusively for the development of various civic aspects of Guwahati, it added.
