"Yoga is not a religion. It is a science. Science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind and soul," the Governor said in his message to the people of the state.
"India has every reason to be proud that our forefathers' wisdom and knowledge in making a person healthy in body and mind is now recognised by the world and International Day of Yoga has taken birth," Acharya said.
"Yoga means addition - addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul. Yoga practice can make us more and more sensitive to subtle sensations in the body. Paying attention to and staying with finer sensations within the body is one of the surest ways to steady the wandering mind and fulsome life", he said.
Stating that modern life is full of stress and problems, he said they put a lot of pressure on the human body causing diseases like obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes.
"The International Day of Yoga is not simply an event. This year, the International Yoga Day will be celebrated for the second time and it is an opportunity for all of us to make yoga a mass movement instead of only an event. We all should make it an integral part of our lives", he said.
