The Deputy Commissioners have been asked to take action under the Assam Protection of interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 2000.

The direction has been issued in view of the collection of deposits by certain dubious financial establishments from the public without valid license and permission from the competent authorities such as RBI, SEBI, etc., for doing such business, official sources said.

The Government has taken the matter seriously and the Chief Minister will review the matter shortly, the sources added.
