Assistant Teacher Shyam Lal Das of Machkhowa Kahibari ME School under Kopili Block was found hanging from a tree at his residence this morning and the police was accordingly informed.
Das was working as a teacher in the school for the last 22 years without salary as his school was not provincialised till date, family members alleged.
The Elementary Education Department of Assam government has prepared a list to include the school as government school, but his post was not sanctioned.
This was allegedly the second suicide by a teacher in the district. Another Assistant teacher Kamal Bordoloi of Nabheti ME school had committed suicide in September allegedly due to non-payment of salary.
