Yesterday, police had sought 10 days custody when Pandi was produced in the court. The court had remanded him to judicial custody till October 6.
When the police application came up today before Judicial Magistrate Court II, magistrate Palpandian granted police four days custody to question him.
After hearing arguments of defence and prosecution, the magistrate directed that Pandi be produced in the court on September 27.
Pandi had been eluding arrest since January 31, 2013, after the murder of "Pottu" Suresh, a close aide of Alagiri.
He shot to infamy after he was accused in the burning of the office of Tamil daily "Dinakaran" in 2007 in which three employees were killed. However, Pandi was acquitted in the case.
Several criminal cases, including kidnap, attempt to murder and land-grabbing, are pending against him.
