Aus, India share expertise on heritage conservation
Press Trust of India Jaipur Australian and Indian heritage conservation experts today shared their expertise on museum collections, heritage architecture and cultural tourism conservation in a seminar here.
During the seminar 'Heritage Conservation-An international perspective', a five-member team of the Australian heritage conservationists shared its architecture and cultural tourism expertise with the Indian experts.
Charlotte Galloway, who teaches curatorial studies in Australian National University deliberated on collection management of artifacts and their physical care.
She also discussed issues relating to collection policies and how the documentation and provenance should be done and how a collection management system in a museum should be evolved.
A stone consultant and a heritage stone conservation expert Jim Mann said that as a large number of heritage structure in India were made of stones, there was need to study the stone elements of the heritage structure.
He said while doing the conservation of stone buildings of heritage importance the replacements should be done by studying various aspects particularly the colour of the stone, water absorption, porosity, and durability.
It was the Australia-India Forum's seminar organized in collaboration with Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum at city palace.
