Australian Alumni Excellence Awards in India on June 6

Recognising outstanding achievement in various fields by Australian alumni of Indian origin, the Australian Alumni Association (AAA) India today announced that awards would be presented on June 6 in Chennai.
Australian Alumni Excellence Awards India 2015 recognize outstanding achievement in Entrepreneurship and Industry Excellence, Education and Public service, Science and Technology, sports,art and culture, food, travel, leisure, young Achiever award and community service (Citizen of the Year).
AAA connects Indo Australian alumni for fellowship, professional networking and development and mentors future students and young alumni who are repatriated after their studies in Australia, an AAA release said here.
The awards will be presented by the Australian Alumni Association Trust and the event, supported by the Australian Consulate General and Austrade, will reach out to business and industry, Indo Australian alumni, educational institutions and the public sector, it said.
The Awards for each category will be decided by a high profile jury, comprising leaders in industry, business, science and technology, sports and arts including Kiran Mazumdar Shah, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Ltd, Michael Kasprowicz, Former Australian Test Cricketer, Prof Ravi Subrahmanyam, Director, Raman Research Institute, Sheba Nandyeolkar, National Vice Chair, Australia India Council.
Alumni can nominate themselves, but must provide a contactable referee who will second the nomination, it said.
If nominating someone else, the nominating party must acknowledge consent from the Australian alumna/alumnus being nominated.
Nominations close on May 15 and are open to Australian alumni currently based in India (must spend at least 50 per cent of their time in India) or those who have worked in India for the past 12 months leading up to the awards.
