Beginning this month contemporary fashion, music, comedy, film and food from Australia are set to travel across India in a big festival that aims to showcase the Australian culture and diversity.
The 'Oz Fest', which had a smashing debut in the country last year, is returning again this time with "diverse line-up of innovative and exciting events".
"We are bringing back some successful elements from last year's program as well as venturing into new areas of cultural collaboration with India. We want people in India to get a taste of Australian contemporary culture," said Australia's High Commissioner to India, Patrick Suckling.
The festival scheduled to run between October 2013 to February 2014 is focusing on both Australian and Indian contemporary music and film.
"Our main focus this time would be to work on developments and connect with Indian people so that they get the taste of Australian culture here in India", said Kathryn Deyell, First Secretary, Public Diplomacy Australian High Commission.
'Oz fest' ambassadors Brett Lee, Australian MasterChef judge Gary Mehigan and Indian-Australian actress Pallavi Sharda are back on the board this year too.
"The scale of the event is smaller than last year but would have an 'Eco-Friendly' concept and will is going to be loved by many, we feel," Kathryn Deyell said.
Australian feature film 'The Rocket' will be screened at the 15th Mumbai Film Festival, beginning in Mumbai on October 17 where acclaimed filmmaker Bruce Beresford will be President of the Jury. So also is Screen Australia, which will be be back at the Goa Film Bazaar with a delegation of Australians to scope the Indian film market and explore collaborative film projects.
The Oz Fest will open with Australian fashion at WIFW in Delhi with ramp show from Australian designer duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales which will also feature Brett Lee's new scarf line in collaboration with Panchachuli Women Weavers and Woolmark from the state of Indian Himalayas.
