Mohapatra will be responsible for providing strategic direction to India operations, managing business priorities, and enhancing Avaya's position as a leading business communications company, Avaya said in a statement.
He will also play a key role in strengthening channel partner relations and driving significant growth in the mid-market segment, it added.
A 17 year veteran of the industry, Mohapatra joins Avaya from SAP where he spent the last six years and held various leadership positions.
Prior to joining SAP, Priyadarshi started the retail practice for Sun Microsystems in India and previously co-founded, Oyzterbay, a venture capital funded jewellery chain.
