Average age of MPs from Gujarat is around 55 years

The average age of the newly-elected 26 MPs from Gujarat is around 55 years, with eleven of them being in their fifties and six others, including Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, in their sixties.
Three members of Parliament, including BJP veteran L K Advani, were born in the pre-Independence era.
In the just-concluded general elections, BJP made a clean-sweep winning all the 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The average age of these MPs is 55.69 years, while in 2009 it was 55.03 years.
Earlier, in the 2004 general elections, the average age of the parliamentarians from the state was 57.76 years.
The eldest amongst the elected MPs from Gujarat is former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani (86), who won the Gandhinagar seat for the sixth consecutive term, defeating Congress rival Kirit Patel by over 4.83 lakh votes.
Other octogenarian leader -- Leeladhar Vaghela (80) defeated Congress candidate Bhavsinh Rathod with a margin of 1.38 lakh votes from Patan constituency.
70-year-old Prabhatsinh Chauhan, who was given ticket for the second time, won the Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat defeating Congress' Ramsinh Parmar.
The youngest of the 26 MPs from the state is Rajesh Chudasama. The 31-year-old won the electoral battle against Congress' Punja Vansh from Junagadh Lok Sabha seat.
Vinod Chavda (35) made his debut as the MP and defeated Congress candidate Dinesh Parmar from Kutch Lok Sabha seat.
39-year-old BJP candidate Poonam Maadam emerged victorious in Jamnagar, defeating her uncle and two-time Congress MP Vikram Madam by a margin of 1.75 lakh votes.
Amongst the MPs in their forties are Parbhu Vasava (44) from Bardoli, Jaswantsinh Bhabhor (47) from Dahod and Devusinh Chauhan (49) from Kheda Lok Sabha seat.
