"Process of withdrawing the cases against innocent farmers was on and cases would be scrapped soon," said the state urban development minister.

He also asked the district authorities to expedite probe into the case of a missing girl in the village, sources said.

The girl, daughter of a villager Yaqoob, went missing on February 18.

Yaqoob had alleged that the police was not co-operating in the case.

A clash took place on May 7 last year between police and farmers, agitating over acquisition of land by the then Mayawati government. Four persons, including two policemen, were killed in the incident. PTI Corr
