"We are keen on improving trade infrastructure, immigration, customs facilities and establishing land ports between Bangladesh and India's North-East," Bangladesh Industries Minister Amir Hussain Amu said here today.
"We are North-East's natural business partner and we would like to be more actively engaged in enhancing our business relations with this part of India," Amu said in a business summit organized by FICCI and Tripura government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Bangladesh in June last year has taken the bilateral relation to an unprecedented height, he said and mentioned how the complicated enclave issue has been solved by the Land Boundary Agreement.
The minister said, "Our business community is capable enough to invest and run business outside Bangladesh. We therefore see immense prospect for expanding Bangladeshi business in the North-East."
The Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BOIM) corridor would play a very important role in business as the region covers 9 per cent of the world's total area, 7.3 per cent of global GDP and involves 440 million people, Amu said.
