Under attack over praising West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP MP Babul Supriyo today criticised the TMC government for misuse and diversion of central funds to other projects.
"There has been misuse and diversion of central funds. Funds allocated for one project were shifted to other projects," Supriyo, Union MOS for Urban Development said.
He also denied allegations by state government that there has been deduction in central funds.
The minister's criticism comes in the wake of the controversy within BJP over his praising Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
He had praised Banerjee few days back saying "You all know about E=MC2 theory. For me, E stands for energy, C for coal and M for Mamata di."
Supriyo, a singer-turned-MP from Asansol, had shared some light moments with Banerjee during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the state and showered praise on her during a programme also attended by Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal on May 15.
Following the incident, BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh had said his 'jhalmuri (spiced puffed rice which Supriyo had shared with Banerjee) diplomacy' would not work when party workers were being attacked everyday by TMC.
Later Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "I don't think there is much to it at all. There is no bonhomie.
