Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod to the Rs 606.38 crore and Rs 221.50 crore development projects for Amritsar and Ludhiana respectively.
The decision was taken by Badal during a meeting of the state level steering committee under JNNURM held here, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister said.
Badal has also ordered to send these cases to the Ministry of Urban Development for requisite approval and funding under JNNURM scheme, the spokesman said.
The spokesperson said that the two projects of Water Supply and Sewerage which were approved for Amritsar included Rs 70.68 crore Water Supply Scheme in newly Developed Abadi outside the walled city phase-II and Rs 105.70 crore Sewerage Scheme in South-East Zone.
Likewise, Rs 430 crore project including six roads and Solid waste management project (Rs 105 crore) were also approved during the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that Rs 495 crore Bus Rapid Transit System for Amritsar had already been approved by the Chief Minister, which also include Rs 36 crore for improvement of Bhandari Bridge and Rs 41 crore for Verka Railway over Bridge.
