A youth Congress leader here today charged Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal with indulging in "politics of regionalism".
"The Badal government has been neglecting certain areas which are stronghold of Congress," youth Congress leader Rahulinder Singh Sidhu alleged while addressing party workers here.
"Badals are only pursing their personal agenda to fulfil their own politician interests and ignoring welfare of common man including also downtrodden and weaker sections," he said.
Sidhu and his supporters held a protest here to highlight the alleged poor condition of Khanauri road.
He alleged Badal government's "sluggishness" on action against those who had supplied spurious pesticides to cotton farmers in the state.
He said that Chief Minister's assertion that action would be taken against those who supplied spurious pesticides is a case of too little, too late since it would not bring any relief to farmers as their cotton crop has been severely damaged.
Sidhu, who is son of former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and head of party's youth wing of Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, also castigated the Badal government for its alleged indifferent attitude towards farmers.
He emphasised that farmers are dying in the state but state government seems to have no compassion and any blueprint to resolve their problems.
