Badal orders vigilance probe in bungling in land purchase

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ordered a vigilance probe into alleged bungling in purchase of land at lower rates by some influential people in Hoshiarpur district.
An official spokesman said the vigilance will look into the alleged bungling in the purchase of land by some influential people at lower rates, which was acquired by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to undertake four laning project in Hoshiarpur district, on exorbitant rates to pocket heavy compensation.
Badal has asked the Chief Vigilance Director to ascertain the facts which led to the alleged irregularities in acquisition of land.
