The Haryana CM said that Badal's statement after the Supreme Court began its hearing on the Presidential reference on Punjab Termination of Agreement Act, 2004, was "disappointing and driven by purely political considerations".
He said that one should refrain from commenting on sub judice matter.
"I have great respect for Badal who is an experienced leader. Being the elder brother of Haryana, Punjab should protect the interests of its younger brother," Khattar said.
The SYL is the lifeline of Haryana farmers and the government is committed to doing everything possible to make it carry the state's share of water at the earliest, he said.
Khattar added that the issue would be discussed at the all-party meeting on March 12.
