The bail pleas of five arrested in the rape of a septuagenarian nun in a convent school at Ranaghat were today rejected by a local court.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nadia Bishnu Baran Mondal rejected the bail pleas of Md. Salim Seikh, Milan Sarkar, Gopal Sarkar, Khaleda Rahaman Mintoo and Ohidul Islam against whom a charge sheet was filed on June 23 by CID.
According to the Assistant Public Prosecutor Pradip Kumar Pramanick, the five would next be produced in the court on August 13.
The main accused in the case Nazrul Islam, alias Noju, was not produced by CID today as he was taken away for production in another case.
In the early hours of March 14, a group of alleged Bangladeshi bandits broke into the Convent of Jesus and Mary at Ranaghat sexually assaulting the 71-year-old nun and robbing cash.
