Former MP Kameshwar Baitha surrendered in a local court on Thursday after his bail was cancelled in connection with a Model Code violation.

Palamau Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sanjay Kumar Choudhary, who cancelled Baitha's bail after the latter failed to appear before the court several times, sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

The Model Code violation case was slapped against Baitha in 2007 when he unsuccessfully contested the Palamau Lok Sabha bypoll on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket.

He, however, won the seat in 2009 on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket but lost the seat in 2014.
