Bajwa flays Sukhbir over visit to firing case victims village

Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today slammed Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for going under heavy security to the villages of the police firing incident victims in Faridkot, and likened his visit to British General Dyer roaming the streets of Amritsar after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
"First of all, it took more than a month for him to visit the families of the victims. Then he went under heavy security as he feared protest by the people. He delayed his visit by about four hours as people waited for him with black flags in Sarawan village. He should have gone there to seek apology with folded hands for the unprovoked police firing", Bajwa said.

Thes state Congress chief asserted that he took this risk as Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi is to lead a 21-member delegation to President Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow seeking a high-level probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge into police firing at Behbal Kalan and series of incidents of sacrilege of holy books that the Badal government had "failed" to prevent.
And, now Sukhbir's visiting the victims in the village is and "like British Brigadier General R E H Dyer roaming the streets of Amritsar post-curfew imposition after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre".
It was shocking that the religious scriptures were reported missing from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1 was still to be traced that reflected "utter incompetence" of the police which is under Sukhbir Badal in his capacity as the Home Minister, he said.

Bajwa alleged here was a government in which the right hand "did not know" as to what the left hand was doing.

The father and son should decide the approach to the issues first rather than contradicting each other, he said.
He asked Badal, who is also the Akali Dal Patron, to come out openly as to what haunted him now as it was too well known to all as to how the situation had deteriorated in the state leading to a mass outrage, the "like of which has not been witnessed before in this state during the last several decades."

Bajwa said he (Badal) should have the guts to admit his guilt and resign rather than trying to "hoodwink" the people by posing that he would apologise in case the people held him responsible.
