"Six states, including Gujarat, Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Bihar, have already banned the liquor, the BJP government should consider banning it in Rajasthan," Gehlot said in a statement here.
Referring to former MLA Gurucharan Singh Chhabra who died while on hunger strike to demand ban on liquor, Gehlot said his daughter-in-law Pooja Chhabra recently ended her 8-day-old fast after a written agreement with the BJP government.
Till the state government takes any decision on banning liquor, the excise department should ensure that liquor is not sold without license to consumers at public places and at private functions, and illicit liquor is not made anywhere in the state, Gehlot said.
