Shekhar Borker, a member of the National Trust of Disabilities, passed away here last night after suffering a brief illness.
He was 65.
Shekhar had done pioneering work as the co-author of a report of the Committee appointed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to study the existing regulations on air travel for persons with disabilities.
Also known as 'banana boy', Shekhar had appeared on the Indian postage stamp in 1957 as a child eating a banana to mark the First Children's Day commemorating former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday.
He is survived by his younger brother Suhas Borker, who is a media person and documentary filmmaker.
