The Annual General Meeting of the BCCI which was scheduled to be held on September 27 in Kolkata has been indefinitely postponed as the parent body awaits Supreme Court verdict on whether former president N Srinivasan can be allowed to attend meetings.
With only 14 days left for the scheduled date, it is only a foregone conclusion that a postponement of AGM was needed in order to adhere to BCCI constitution.
Once the apex court issues clarification, the BCCI will needs to give its members atleast three weeks' notice from the time final working committee meeting in order to convene AGM.
The BCCI yesterday filed a petition seeking clarification from the court about whether Srinivasan could attend the meeting in his capacity as TNCA president.
Srinivasan's presence at the BCCI working committee meeting in Kolkata kast month led to an adjournment as many menres felt that it would be contempt of court.
Eventually BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya adjourned the working committee meeting sine die.
"Certain things are not in our hands. This has not happened for the first time. It has happened many times," Thakur told ESPNcricinfo.
"As per our legal opinion he [Srinivasan] could not attend the meeting. But he then forced himself to be in the meeting.
"And we did not want any contempt of court. That is why we have filed the petition on Friday and may be in a few days' time we should get the order.
