BDO booked for showing disrespect to tri-colour
Press Trust of India Kendrapara (Odisha) A block development officer in Odisha has been booked for allegedly showing disrespect to the national flag during a Republic Day function in the district, police said today.
When BDO of Garadpur, B C Mohanty, was trying to hoist the flag during the Republic Day function, it did not unfurled properly.
The flag came off post and subsequently fell on the ground, they said.
A case was registered against Mohanty after a villager Ganeswar Kundu, lodged an FIR in this regard, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nrusingha Charan Swain said.
The case was registered under provisions of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971 and Flag Code, 2002, the SDPO added.
