The West Bengal government gives priority to the development of industry and is working to usher in greenfield investment, state Power Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay said today.
Speaking at the inauguration of the four-day 'CII Biz Bridge 2017', an engineering and manufacturing exhibition-cum buyer-seller meet, at the Dumurjala helipad ground, Chattopadhyay said the initiatives would help promote industrial growth in the State.
"The state government is ready to extend all help and support to the industries. We want to continue working closely with CII for the overall industrial growth and development," the minister said.
Speaking on the occasion, state Cooperation Minister Arup Roy said, "Howrah has everything to lead Bengals re-industrialization drive."
"In terms of skilled and cheap labour and also technical finesse and expertise, Howrah is still unrivalled and we strongly believe that Bengal can even take on the Chinese with the products made in Howrah," Roy told industry members at the programme.
"Just as Burdwan is called the rice bowl of the state, Howrah could be the industrial capital of Bengal," Roy said.
Roy also assured of extending all cooperation from his department in terms of loans to small entrepreneurs as part of the state governments commitment to promote MSMEs. "We will also make sure they get raw materials at low costs," he said.
Lauding the CII, Roy said such a meet is bound to act as catalyst for the industrial revival of Howrah.
'Biz Bridge 2017' is a platform where MSMEs, including many from Howrah, are slated to interact with top executives and technical experts from various government and private organizations and companies.
