A bus of the civic undertaking BEST caught fire on Wednesday, but no one was injured, said officials.
According to a senior civic official, the incident took place at 4.17 pm at King's Circle in Matunga, Central Mumbai.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST)- run bus, operating on route No. 27, suddenly went up in flames, he said.
"There were only three passengers in the bus when it caught fire and all of them alighted safely when they saw smoke coming out of the vehicle," the official said.
He said an inquiry will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the fire.
"A fire brigade team was immediately pressed into service and the fire was extinguished in half an hour," a fire brigade official said.
