The 18,000 sacks of betel nuts were seized after ten teams of the department raided the godowns of transporters and traders yesterday, they said.
The alleged offenders brought the betel nuts from other states without paying the commercial tax, officials said.
On Sunday, betel nuts worth Rs 5 crore, being transported illegally from Nagpur to Ranchi, were seized the commercial tax department for alleged evasion of tax.
