Bhullar, who had rounds of 68 and 69 on first two days, was one of the few players to have begun his third round at the Orchid Country Club, but none had completed and many had not even started when the event was shortened.

Among other Indians, Himmat Rai was even through seven holes in the third round, and was tied 33rd, as was Anirban Lahiri, who was even through six holes. Both were three-under for the tournament.

Sujjan Singh, who had good first two rounds had two bogeys in four and slipped down to two-under for the tournament.

Jeev Milkha Singh, 68 and 71 in first two rounds, was yet to begin his third round. All other Indians missed the cut.

Malaysia's Shaaban Hussin, who only managed to complete his second round in the afternoon with a flawless five-under-par 65 and was yet to tee off, will head into the third and final round with a one-shot lead over American David Lipsky, Japan's Daisuke Kataoka and Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant, who are a further shot back on matching 132s.

With thunderstorms and lighting threats forcing play to be suspended twice today, officials were left with no choice but to abandon play for the day.

Shaaban, who was among the 12 players who were yet to tee off for their round, was clearly prepared for the week's challenges. PTI Cor SSC
