Bhullar, who is on impressive run, including a win in his last start in Macao, was bogey-free for the day and at one stage he was 4-under for the front nine and then 5-under for 11 holes.
But when the threat of lighthing and thunderstorms stopped play early, he was five-under with three mores holes left. At 9-under he was now tied 8th as compared to tied 18th overnight.
Bhullar was five shots behind Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand, who fired three birdies in 11 holes to extend his overnight lead to three before play was abandoned for the day due to bad weather at the Pondok Indah Golf Course.
Ajeetesh Sandhu improved with 3-under through 17 and at 4-under he was tied 31st.
Arjun Prasad (even par through 15) was tied 50th, Honey Baisoya (one-over through 14) was tied 56th and Daniel Chopra (three-over through 17) was tied 59th. Himmat Rai (6-over through 17) was tied 64th.
Panuphol is chasing for a breakthrough win and is placed at 14-under while Australian Anthony Quayle trails in second place with four birdies through 12 holes.
Lionel Weber of France was on a hot run, setting the course ablaze with eighth birdies against no bogey in 17 holes before the weather stoppage.
The penultimate round of the US$300,000 Asian Tour event was suspended at 12.42pm local time due to heavy rain.
Officials later decided to call off play at 4.30pm. A total of 57 players will resume their third round at 6.30am on Sunday.
