The BJP legislators left the opposition benches as soon as Deputy Chairman Salim Parvez took the chair and started protesting against the police firing incident at Akbarpur village in Rohtas district yesterday, which claimed two lives and left nine others injured.
Parvez's request to the BJP members to allow proceedings to start fell on deaf ears as the protesters continued with their anti-government slogans demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.
The Deputy Chairman requested the Leader of Opposition in the Council Sushil Kumar Modi to control his party members from flouting the rules related to the working of the House but the senior BJP leader refused to oblige.
Seeing the protesters unrelenting, Parvez adjourned the Council till tomorrow noon.
