With the government short on numbers in Rajya Sabha, it has decided to seek passage of these measures issued recently in the lower House.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said here today that the government has listed two Bills to replace Ordinances to amend the Citizenship Act and Mines Act for consideration and passage in Lok Sabha tomorrow, when Bills to replace two other executive orders -- on coal blocks and e-rickshaws -- will also be introduced in the lower House.
The Bill to replace the amendment to the Land Acquisition Act has already been introduced in the lower House. Since the Bill is being objected to by the opposition and farmers' groups, it will be listed for consideration and passage in the week beginning March 9, government sources indicated.
Naidu said that the Business Advisory Committees of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have discussed the legislative business proposed by the government for the second week of the Budget session and alloted time for the different Bills.
The government has also proposed the consideration and passage of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2015, which was passed by Rajya Sabha last week.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha will take up further discussions on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address during the second week.
That will be followed by consideration and passage of the Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2014, and the Regional Rural Banks (Amendment) Bill, 2014.
The upper House is likely to take up two Ordinance Replacement Bills pertaining to Citizenship and Mines and Minerals after they are passed by Lok Sabha.
