Patels in Modasa town of Aravalli district have asked the ruling BJP's district office bearers to vacate their rented premises in ten days, as part of their protest against alleged police atrocities after the Patel mega rally on August 25.
According to local Patel leaders, Aravalli district's BJP office has been running inside premises owned by a Patel community trust.
"After the new Aravalli district was formed three years ago, the BJP was alloted space on rent inside our premises on Meghraj Eoad in Modasa town. BJP's district wing operates from this office since three years," local leader Vinu Patel said.
Today, a group of local Patel youths, along with Vinu Patel rushed to the BJP office and asked BJP office bearers to vacate the space within ten days.
"We came to the office to inform BJP office bearers to vacate the rented office, situated inside premises owned by the Patel community. BJP leaders gave us their word that they will leave in ten days," Vinu Patel said.
Confirming these developments, BJP's office-in-charge Jayesh Patel stated that they will vacate the office.
"We have promised them that we will vacate this office in a very short time. Our new office is already under construction and we will move there shortly," Jayesh Patel said.
Earlier during the day, residents of several villages in Aravalli banned the entry of political leaders into their villages in protest against alleged police atrocities.
Banners carrying a stern "warning" to politicians against entering villages have been put up by angry local Patel residents for not supporting the community.
