Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri and Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma today alleged that the BJP leaders at the Centre were indulging in "malicious propoganda" as they had no achievement to show.
"Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is making false and baseless allegations against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. The BJP is scared of the chief minister's popularity and is trying to tarnish his image, fearing defeat in the coming assembly polls," the ministers said in a joint statement.
"If the Congress government had lost its popularity then why the BJP has pressed its entire battery of senior leaders and ministers into the campaign," they said.
Taking on the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ministers alleged, "The NDA government has failed on all fronts and the BJP leaders are indulging in malicious propaganda as they have no achievement to show."
They said it was intriguing that a single income tax case of the chief minister was being investigated by three central agencies to "harass" him and the BJP leaders did not even want him to defend his case.
The prices of essential commodities including LPG, petrol, diesel, vegetables and pulses have soared, growth rate has dipped, demonetisation proved to be a punishment for the people and the life of common man has become difficult, they said.
The ministers said that Dharamshala was chosen to be developed as a smart city by the Modi government after competitive bidding but no work has been started.
On the allegations of Prasad regarding failure of the state government in preparing detailed project report (DPR) of as many as 61 roads, the ministers said it was "unwarranted and misplaced as enough progress has been made and approval of the Union government was awaited in the cases sent to the Centre."
They said technical bids had been opened for 42 roads and financial evaluation of 10 roads had also been done.
As far as the release of funds from the Centre was concerned, they said there was nothing new in it as every state gets its due share from the Union government.
