BJP MP seeks Chidambaram's explanation, Cong protests

A BJP member today sought an explanation from former union minister P Chidambaram on media reports alleging that a copy of a classified CBI report was recovered from his residence, evoking loud protests from the Congress in the Rajya Sabha.
BJP member Bhupender Yadav raised the issue during the debate on the budget, immediately after Chidambaram finished his speech.
Referring to the report, Yadav said Chidambaram owed an explanation as he had held crucial portfolios during the UPA regime.
As soon as he made the remarks, Congress members trooped in the Well raising anti-Modi and anti-government slogans, while its leaders like Anand Sharma demanded expunction of Yadav's statement saying he had made personal allegations which should not go into the records.

CPI(M) leader T K Rangarajan, who was in the Chair, said he would check the records and decide.
During Yadav's entire speech, the Congress members continued to vociferously raise slogans from the Well.
