Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh today said that BJP is the only mainstream political party with values of inner party democracy and not controlled by any family or dynasty.
The Minister said this in response to reporters' query here regarding Congress heavy weight and former Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joining the BJP.
"BJP is the only mainstream political party which has the values of inner party democracy and not controlled by any family or dynasty. It proves that BJP is the only option for all those who are getting suffocated due to this," Singh said.
On August 23, former Assam Health and Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced in Delhi that he had met BJP president Amit Shah and had expressed his desire to join the party.
The dissident Congress leader, once a close associate of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, had resigned from the ministry last year following differences after the 2011 Assembly elections.
