BJP workers gathered at Ambedkar Chowk (Chaura Maidan) and marched towards the state Assembly but were stopped by the police 50m before the main gate using barricades and parking fire brigade and police vans.
Addressing the demonstrators, former chief minister P K Dhumal, who staged a walkout over the issue alongwith other BJP members, attacked the government for not taking action against the culprits and giving clean chit to Youth Congress workers.
"It is serious matter and the BJP would continue its agitation till the culprits are arrested and government ousted," he declared.
State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti, former BJP president Suresh Bharadwaj and party general secretary Randhir Sharma said that the enquiry ordered by the government has no meaning as the chief minister has repeatedly given clean chit to YC workers and blamed the BJYM.
