"When PM went abroad for a week, his visits were glorified. But its irony that now when Uttar Pradesh CM has gone abroad for 2-3 days, BJP men were raising fingers on it," SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said defending the visit.
BJP had yesterday attacked Yadav for "holidaying abroad" along with his family, saying the chief minister was enjoying himself in a foreign country at a time when poor people were dying due to cold and in the hooch tragedy.
BJP had termed Yadav's foreign visit as "mockery of the death of poor and helpless people".
Attacking BJP further, Chowdhury alleged that the party's agenda was to vitiate communal atmosphere of the state by creating tension in the society.
"BJP men are involved in planned conspiracy of threatening administrative officers. In Noida and Moradabad, BJP has created tension. In Deoband, Ayodhya, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpurm, it was working to vitiate law and order," the SP leader alleged.
The CM, according to sources, had left for foreign tour with family. However, officially, his tour has been kept a closely guarded secret as no official was ready to go on record about it.
